Baveno is situated inside of the charming Gulf of the Borromee Islands, a territory full of history, culture and traditions. In the town you can enjoy wonderful sights and interesting monuments, among which the Church of the Saints Gervaso and Protaso, that is in the center of Baveno, and was built in the 11th century, but restored in the 18th century: you can see parts of the original structure in the facade, comprising a fresco representing S.Cristoforo, and in the Romanesque bell tower.
On the lakeside promenade of Baveno, in front of the port, there is Villa Branca: it was built between 1871 and 1872 in a style that imitates the English gothic. The villa is dipped in the green and it stands out with its great size; in the park there is also a false ruined castle, built in 1882-1883.
Baveno is also a good place of departure for excursions by foot or by mountain bike in the hills and mountains of Lake Maggiore. There is also a beautiful bike track that goes along thelake inside a Nature Reserve.
